Do you want to live as an artist?

Since I am often asked what it is like to be an artist, and hidden in this question is the desire to be an artist myself, my letter to you:

Interview Exhibition Basel Alexander Palacios

I can understand that you are worried about whether it is possible to live and make a living as an artist. It is a decision that comes with many uncertainties and challenges, but it is also one of the most fulfilling and rewarding decisions you can make. As an artist, you have the ability to express your ideas and visions and influence the world around you. You have the opportunity to inspire, entertain and move others. Your art can help improve and enrich other people's lives. It's normal to have doubts and wonder if you're good enough or if your art even has a market. But I want to encourage you to believe in yourself and pursue your passion for art. If you really believe in it and work hard, you can be successful. It is also normal that you will experience setbacks and defeats, be considered crazy and often be an outsider with your thoughts. Every successful artist has had these experiences. But the most important thing is that you keep going and stick with it. Don't give up when things get difficult, when everyone thinks you're doing the right thing and you're against it, or when you fail. Get back up and try again. You will grow and improve the more you practice and challenge yourself.

Behind the Scenes Alexander Palacios

There are many ways to live and earn a living as an artist. You may initially need to specialize in a niche or take on different jobs and projects to make ends meet. But with time and experience you will find your place and create your own niche in the art world.

In Switzerland there is certainly a strong tendency to follow social norms and expectations. But I want to encourage you to be brave and step out of the crowd. Switzerland also has a vibrant and diverse art scene, and there is always room for new voices and perspectives. So if you dream of making a living as an artist, don't give up. Believe in yourself, be brave and persistent. Let your art speak and let the passion and joy you feel while doing it drive you. I wish you all the best on your journey.

Best Regards

Alexander Palacios
