Double standards

I am increasingly exhausted by the double standards in the Western world

You are supposedly always on the right side in order to be able to count yourself among the “good ones”. I wonder why that is. Do these people have such a bad conscience that they need this affiliation to maintain their bubble?

For example Large companies publicly boast about their social responsibility and competence, especially on social media, emphasize their donations to foundations and their involvement in local projects - but behind the scenes things often look different. The reality for many employees and external service providers like myself is increasing financial pressure, as prices are unrealistically depressed and working conditions suffer as a result. You just lie in each other's pockets and so the ship seems to be on the right course, all so that you can continue to rise in the hierarchy. The profits do increase, but at the expense of the suffering of those who are further down in the hierarchy and in the long term at the expense of society as a whole or, as before, far away in developing countries that we exploit. Added to this is the systematic exploitation of tax loopholes. These corporations and the people with great power and wealth then hire commercial companies that sometimes have dubious tax model options and hardly contribute to the community, while they make unrestricted use of the public infrastructure - which is financed by everyone - and present the company with tinsel to the outside world. Stop now, people will say that's not true, of course these self-proclaimed saviors also contribute to this, but they want to decide what and how, while we farmers are responsible for everything that the constitutional state lays down in law. At the same time, these same companies know that they are considered “systemically important”. In the event of a crisis, they can play this card and rely on the state as a rescue, which allows them to take risks that are ultimately borne by the community.

This double standard and the proximity of politicians to business lead to an erosion of trust in the systems and democracy. People feel exploited and like “pawns on the chessboard” who are sacrificed for the interests of others. Many no longer work out of identification or loyalty to their employer, but only for “pain and pain” money. They change companies like others change their underpants and you often only hear them complain and gossip about their employer. Loyalty and cohesion are lost and people are only next to themselves and their consumption. Election results like those we are experiencing in the USA or Germany are the result of this “preach water, drink wine” mentality. And the most interesting thing about these results is to see how these people are still upset about it, even though they themselves are responsible and part of these results, if you no longer have any values yourself and convey how can you then demand this? Power corrupts and this corruption is deeply rooted in our economy, politics and structures, I really believe that because I have often felt it myself. You don't have to point at other countries or politicians, you just have to touch your own nose. It’s time to demand real accountability – not just in words, but in actions.

A standard only seems to apply if it serves one's own advantage
